Entry No. 018 · The Inmate Index
One thing you do for yourself, on company time, every Tuesday. Consider it a small reimbursement for services rendered.
Full Definition
Take Back Tuesday is the Corporate Inmate practice of doing one thing entirely for yourself during the workday, every Tuesday.
Not before work. Not after work. Not squeezed into your lunch break while answering Teams messages. On company time.
Get your nails done. Take the long walk. Go to the gym. Sit somewhere with a coffee and stare into the middle distance. Run the errand you've been putting off. Read a chapter. Take yourself to lunch. Do absolutely nothing for an hour. If you're working from home, take the signature Corporate Inmate midday shower.
The activity doesn't matter. The reclamation does.
Corporate life has a remarkable ability to convince you that every usable hour of the day belongs to someone else. Take Back Tuesday is a tiny weekly refusal of that idea. You're not quitting. You're not staging a revolution. You're taking a little piece of your life back while you're still inside.
Every Tuesday. One thing. Yours.
Survival Move
Pick your Tuesday hour before the week starts, not in the moment. If it's not on the calendar, it gets eaten by the first meeting that wants it.
