Entry No. 007 · The Inmate Index
The vague, ongoing initiative that sounds important and resists every follow-up question.
Full Definition
Every seasoned inmate keeps one Ghost Project running at all times. Something vague. Something ongoing. Something built entirely out of corporate buzzwords like initiative and strategic focus that sounds significant and somehow never resolves into anything specific enough to be checked on.
Its entire purpose is buying space. When someone asks what you're working on, the Ghost Project answers for you. When someone asks for a status update, the Ghost Project is still in progress. It's not a lie. It's a professionally acceptable form of fog.
The real skill is picking something plausible enough that nobody wants to ask a second question.
Signs You're Living It
Survival Move
Keep it boring enough that nobody wants details. The moment a Ghost Project sounds exciting, someone will ask to see it.
