Friday Fuckery

Fridays used to slow down. Now they speed up, and the ambush starts Thursday afternoon.

There used to be a rhythm to Fridays. The pace dropped, inboxes got quieter, and everyone coasted toward the weekend on fumes they'd actually earned. That rhythm is dead.

Friday Fuckery is what replaced it. Urgent asks that weren't urgent Wednesday. Meetings that couldn't have waited until Monday, except they could have. Fire drills that ignite out of nowhere and somehow always need to be handled before you clock out. And it doesn't even start on Friday. The real ambush lands Thursday afternoon, when the calendar fills up and the "quick" requests start landing, so by the time Friday actually arrives you're already behind on a day that used to be the easy one.

We're not going to call it a conspiracy, because nobody needs to hold a secret meeting to make this happen. But at Corporate Inmate, we don't buy that it's random either. A system that runs everyone into the weekend depleted, with no real slowdown and no real recovery, isn't malfunctioning. It's working exactly the way it was built to. Keep the inmates tired enough right up until the gate opens, and there's no energy left over to think about anything except getting through Monday again.

That's Friday Fuckery. The slow day got repossessed, and you go into your two days off already owing time to Monday. Do enough weeks of this and you're not just tired anymore, you're deep into burnout territory.

You can't out-plan a pattern that isn't actually about planning. Stop treating each Thursday fire drill like a surprise and start treating it like the schedule it actually is. Block your own protected time early in the week, before Corporate gets to it first.

Corporate Hangover is the exhaustion your body carries into the following week, a cycle that repeats no matter what actually happened. Friday Fuckery is what's causing a fresh dose of it every single week. One is the symptom. One is the delivery mechanism.
