Corporate Hangover

The exhaustion sleep doesn't fix because sleep was never the problem. A weekly cycle, not a Monday mood.

Corporate Hangover is the physical exhaustion that shows up Monday morning and doesn't lift until the weekend arrives again, if it lifts at all. It isn't caused by lack of sleep, and it doesn't get fixed by more of it.

It's caused by the math never adding up. Eight or nine hours of actual work. Plus the prep hours before it: getting ready, commuting, gearing up before you've even logged on. Plus the coping hours after it: decompressing, numbing out, clawing back some sense of yourself before doing it all again tomorrow. All of it eats into hours that were supposed to be yours. None of it gets returned by two days off.

It runs on a weekly cycle. Monday is proof the weekend wasn't enough. Tuesday through Thursday is just the sentence being served. Friday is exhaustion and relief arriving at the same time. Saturday morning is the one safe morning of the week. Sunday is the tug-of-war, caught between trying to rest and watching the clock run out before Monday again.

Most inmates have normalized it so completely they don't recognize it as a symptom anymore. They just think this is what being an adult feels like. It isn't. It's what doing time feels like.

Two days was never enough to recover from five. The math was never designed to work. Stop trying to optimize your way out of a structural deficit and start protecting the hours that are actually yours.

Corporate Summer Brain is seasonal, tied to weather and light. Corporate Hangover runs every single week, regardless of season. Both are the body responding accurately to the system. Only one of them takes a summer off.
